How to Act Sentelligently

What would it look like to live your dreams Sentelligently?

Whether or not your are currently living out one or more of your dreams, it is likely that you understand the concept of living your dreams.

It is taking a vision of what you want to see happen and putting that vision into reality … Taking the steps to move it from a dream or vision into a reality.

You may not be as clear about the concept of Sentelligence. Sentelligence is a word I created, which represents our highly functioning and intelligent sensory system, which includes all of our senses; our touch, our smell our taste, our hearing, our sight; as well as our sixth sense, which is our intuition.

Some of us are more in tune or more sensitive in these areas. Our systems are enhanced or more highly functioning so to speak. I prefer the word ‘Sentelligent’ over “sensitive”, because in our culture, being sensitive often has a negative connotation.

I have also used Sentelligent as adjective to describe a person, i.e; “I am a Sentelligent Person” or ‘He is Sentelligent.”

But now I want to talk about what it means to BE Sentelligent and to act Sentelligently.

Being Sentelligent means tuning in to your highly functioning sensory systems and actually listening to them, learning what they need to function well, and acting on the information your receive from all of your senses – touch, smell, taste, sight, hearing and intuition as well as your feelings. All of these senses work together.

So you can be sensitive but still NOT be acting Sentelligently.

For instance you may notice something smells offensive to you and your intuition tells you, that smell is toxic. You wrinkle up your nose and maybe say “ewe!”. What do you do?

Do you continue to use that product that has the strong smell or do you find something else? Do you trust what your nose is telling you?

I have found that people who have been around toxic or chemical smells for a long time have become de-sensitized to it. They don’t even notice it.

And that includes most of the world’s population.

This is because there are chemicals in so many things – they are in most perfumes, after shave, cleaning products, laundry soaps, fabric softeners, etc. No wonder we have become de-sensitized, we are literally wearing and surrounded by these chemicals day after day.

People with a highly functioning sensory system tend to be more attuned to these smells. But even if you are not bothered by the smell, it is important to know that washing clothes, wearing or spritzing chemicals on your body or hair is not a good thing for you. And these toxins can and do accumulate in your body.

I encourage you to start paying more attention to what your senses are telling you. You wouldn’t leave your hand on a hot stove — your sense of touch knows that is painful and you will get burned. Now start paying attention to the more subtle things your body and your intuition is telling you.

If you notice something doesn’t feel quite right. smell quite right, taste quite right or settle in your stomach quite right, get quiet and ask, “what is this about?” “Is this good for me or not?”

Muscle testing is one way to get at these answers. Because our body knows the truth. And when we get into our bodies and out of our heads, we can start living more sentelligently.

I teach muscle testing in my Life Transformation Tools and More Program and in the Sentelligent Solution Series. It takes some practice but is well worth it.

So what does this have to do with Living Your Dreams. Quite simply, it is difficult to live your dreams with ease if you aren’t in tune to how things are affecting your energy system.

Everything that affects our energy system also affects our mood, our ability to think clearly, and our ability to attract and create what we desire.

I will talk more about tuning in to your senses including intuition and how to use it to live out your dreams in future issues.

Oh and here is the link to read the article which listed 23 traits of Sentelligent people here:

http://www.peacefulentrepreneur.com/told-youre-sensitive/

Have You Ever Been Told “You’re Just Too Sensitive?”

heartinhandsLet’s face it — being sensitive has never been highly accepted in a world that is not so sensitive.  I believe that is going to change. Actually, it is changing.  The energy in the world is shifting and sensitivity is heightened these days – even for those who have not previously considered themselves to be highly sensitive. We are going back to our true nature.

There are lots of terms for what I am talking about such as highly sensitive, empathy and super sensitive. None of them make me feel warm and cozy. And I actually didn’t put myself in this category until the past few years.    Expressing your feelings was not acceptable in my family and it certainly wasn’t the way to succeed in the blue collar printing environment in which I was a Vice President before starting my own business in 1995.

So why should you care if you fall into this group?

In part, it can explain some physical and emotional challenges you may be experiencing as things in our world continue to shift.  But it’s also a positive. It actually puts you ahead of the curve as we move into a world that values six senses and not just five.  If you are a sensitive person, you’ve already been using your sixth sense – your intuition  – as well as your highly receptive nervous system.

But are you using them in a way that really works for you?

That’s what I want to see happen for all of us.  I have seen a variety of statistics on the percentage of people who are highly sensitive. But my guess is that it is higher for those of you who have been drawn to this newsletter.

I am calling this group of people of which I am a member, Sentelligent ™. Because we have a level of intelligence – a uniquely perceptive sensory system – that is heightened and  very smart.  We just have to learn how to nurture, listen to and honor what it is telling us.

From that powerful place we can learn to be happier and more successful in our businesses and lives.

Here are some signs that you may be A Sentelligent Person.  See how many resonate with you.

(You may not resonate with all of them and a statement may not feel true 100% of the time. If a majority of the statements feel true to you, then likelihood is you are A Sentelligent Person!)

    1. You have been told at some point in your life that you were “too sensitive” or scorned or mocked for “over-reacting” to
    things.

    2. You feel emotions deeply.  You may feel as if you “wear your emotions on your sleeves” but not necessarily. Men and those of you who are still in the corporate world may feel things but not show emotions due to cultural training that it is not okay to do so.

    3. You may be aware of the emotions of people around you.

    4. An insult or unkind remark will affect you deeply.

    5. Sights, smells, sounds, touches, changes in temperature and tastes may come through at heightened levels.

    6. You feel deeply for others’ suffering or connections. You may cry at Hallmark commercials or when others cry or when you connect deeply with someone.

    7. May suffer from recurrent depression, anxiety or other psychological disorders.

    8. You may be keenly aware of and affected by beauty in art, music and nature. In this group are the world’s greatest artists and art appreciators.

    9. You may be prone to stimulus overload. That is, you don’t like large crowds or hectic environments. You feel overwhelmed and depleted by too much stimuli.

    10. You were a sensitive child.

    12. You sometimes feel animosity toward  your sensitive nature. Most sensitive people whole-heartedly wish they were tougher and more thick-skinned. They feel like their sensitivity is a weakness. Therefore some sensitive adults have learned how to hide their sensitivity from others.

    13. You may use words like I “sense things”, “feel into” things or are “moved by” things.

    14. You flow with your feelings – laugh out loud or cry when a line in music touches you.

    15. Your sensitivity seems to grow as you grow older or lose weight or from other changes in the body or environment

    16. You may have a good time in social gatherings but then feel tired or not so good the next day ( even if you didn’t drink)

    17. You may “just know” things that other people don’t seem to know.

    18. You may have physical ailments that are not easily explained or healed by traditional or non-traditional medical practitioners. (including but not limited to fatigue)

    19. You may have unexplained mood swings and unable to determine why you suddenly feel sad or angry.

    20. You are a good listener and people tell you their secrets

    21. You feel stress and excitement in heightened ways

22 You have a deep need for fulfillment and meaning in your life

    23. Feel like you are different than others – don’t fit

    24.  May handle stress well in the moment and then feel badly later

How many did you resonate with?   Scroll to the comments section below and  let me know what you see for yourself.

How to Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

How to Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

from wikiHow – The How to Manual That You Can Edit

We are all different yet we have a tendency to compare ourselves to others. It’s human nature, and while learning from others is an important part of critical decision making, if it is used to reinforce an unrealistic or negative self-image it can be an unhealthy habit to get into.

I was going to writing an article about the comparison trap for entrepreneurs and then I saw this one and thought it was worth sharing. It’s not just focused on entrepreneurs but has some good points.  The point I would add is  quit worrying about what everyone else is doing and do what raises your energy.

Enjoy and let me know your thoughts.

Steps

  1. Recognize that comparing yourself to others is a bad habit. Culture often projects flawless skin, big eyes, full lips, small nose, pure white teeth, smooth and shiny hair, curvy body, and designer clothes for women and they portray them as being happy. They portray tall men with flawless skin, six packs, and designer clothes with lots of women, and they define that that is what makes a man happy. Culture is extremely successful in being able to brainwash people into believing they should look a certain way, act a certain way, be a certain someone, when in reality every single one of us is different. What culture does is categorize people and they want you to believe that you have fewer rights to be happy because you do not fit an idealistic lifestyle. That’s why lots of men and women resort to plastic surgery, hide away from society, and grow up thinking that there’s something wrong with them. Comparing yourself to others, especially celebrities, is a fine way to throw your self-esteem down the drain as there will always be those who are ‘better’ than you, and those who are ‘worse’ than you. In the end you will most likely end up wishing you were different with thoughts of worthlessness. It takes you nowhere, wastes a lot of time, and puts you in a psychologically terrible place.
  2. Realize that everybody is different, because we are.People are born to be different; no two of us are the same. We have different mindsets, we interpret things differently, we have different experiences, we feel different emotions. Even identical twins are different from each other. We all will always have room for improvement; nobody is flawless, whether it is on the outside or on the inside. As much as some people may want to believe otherwise, nobody is perfect. It would be wise to stop letting people get to you, and be open-minded and aware of what you are doing to others. Something you can do is start thinking how different they are from you.
  3. Stop being afraid to be yourself.Whatever size, color, religion, gender, race, or sexual orientation, don’t be afraid to be yourself. Nobody but you has the right to dictate what you do, what you think, and what you believe in. There is only one you; nobody has more rights over another person to live. Everybody comes into the world the same way; we all age, feel, analyze, and eventually die, so nobody is more special than another. We are all different. If you’ve forgotten who you are, find yourself again.
  4. Forgive and learn. Learn to recognize that holding a grudge only ties you down from what you really want out of life. Untie the knot and set yourself free. Better yet, analyze and learn what actually hurt you, and prevent it from happening again in the future.
  5. Understand that not everything is possible. You might have heard the saying, ‘nothing is impossible’. In reality that’s only denialism and false hope. You can’t fly, change the weather, time-travel, change the past, live forever, make someone else change unless they are willing to, fit in with everybody, or be somebody else. There are many more things that cannot happen in reality. Be yourself and appreciate where you are now.
  6. Learn to deal with change and embrace it.
  7. Whatever makes you happy, whatever floats your boat. If you feel you need self-improvement and have set yourself an attainable goal, go for it. If you believe that you really need change, do it now. Be sure that you’re doing it because it will make you happier, rather than impressing somebody else. For example, stop swearing if it makes you feel better. Learn to meditate. Start helping others. Learn a new skill. Improve your reading speed. Learn how to write poetically, work towards a better grade, be nicer to someone, try to be more outgoing, train yourself to run faster, learn how to wear makeup better, find clothes that will fit your frame, be a better wikiHow contributor, work harder towards that promotion, learn to better manage your time, change your habit of being a perfectionist, etc. Do it because you feel good about it, not because you feel bad about yourself. This is your life.

Tips

  • Don’t be afraid to put yourself first. You have needs, too. Take care of yourself. If you have a tendency to bend over backwards for others, read How to Stop Being a People Pleaser and How to Overcome Martyr Syndrome.
  • Make some mutual friends.
  • It’s better to be the original you than to be a copy of somebody else.
  • Learn to be patient and accepting with others. This can take a lot of training to do, but in the long run it will be beneficial for everyone.
  • Realize that some methods can work for many others but not for you. When this happens, don’t quit. Keep searching.
  • Learn from your experience.
  • If you don’t have a solid way yet, find a way to let out your anger, frustrations, disappointments and concerns, a way that you can depend on – such as keeping a journal, making a blog, making music, talking or writing about it with someone you trust.
  • It’s better to do it now than think back sometime in the future and ask yourself, “what if?”. It’s better to get hurt then recover from it than having to accept that you lived a very dull life, realizing that you were the one who held you back.
  • You can never be too old to dream, and it’s never too late to achieve your dream, one way or another.
  • Some things can be done and changed overnight; other things cannot be. Habits for example, can be extremely difficult to drop. Don’t be discouraged. Comparing yourself to others is a bad habit a lot of people have. It can take some time to change. Don’t give up. Think about it this way; if you don’t ever give up, you can’t ever fail.
  • If you’ve ever felt like giving up on life but came back from the thought, it’s because you have hope in you. Hold onto that hope. Always have hope in whatever you do, wherever you are.

Warnings

  • Beating yourself is a waste of time, energy, and self-esteem.
  • Don’t allow other people to compare you with others, either.
  • Don’t encourage others if you don’t want to hear it. Don’t make fun of yourself; others may start thinking it’s acceptable to make fun of you.
  • Don’t accumulate unnecessary pressure. Let others do their part too. If they don’t, make them. If they won’t, just let it be. If you have too many responsibilities, chances are you won’t be able to accomplish what you really want to, or even need to.
  • While comparing yourselves to others in excess is generally unfavorable while also conducive to paranoid behavior and depression, keep in mind it is important to still remain competitive in some measure to be successful. But do it from a fun, joyful place and know that there is enough for everyone.

Our body talks louder so we can get quieter

Most of us understand the mind-body connection and that everything is related.  Well, we understand it mentally. But I continue to get this knowing at deeper and deeper levels.  Perhaps that is because the amount of time that it takes for my  body to let me know I am off track is getting shorter and the decibel level is getting louder.  Or am I just more aware?  Perhaps both.

My husband, Mike, has aptly named it my back-up alarm.  This is definitely a man thing. You know how heavy equipment like forklifts, construction equipment and even sanitation trucks make a noise that goes beep, beep, beep when they back up.  It’s a safety feature.

Well, when I do something that takes away from my peaceful state, my body has an alarm system that almost instantly lets me know I am headed in the wrong direction.

Here are a few examples:alarmblue

When I am trying to figure something out in my head – I get a headache.

When I am putting pressure on myself to make something happen (which I was doing last night) – I got severe pain in my left shoulder and in my stomach.

It used to work for me to make things happen from my head — those days are long gone.

Here’s another one. A while back I was  annoyed with some people  who were supposed to do some things for me and it wasn’t happening in the way I had planned.  I got a strong pain in my neck. (get it – subconsciously I thought they were are a pain in the neck and it showed up as tension in my neck).

When I pay attention to these signs, and understand what they are trying to tell me, I can then then  release  energy from that place in my body and then the pain goes away.  No medicine required. Sometimes it takes a while to understand what my body is trying to say. And sometimes, I need an outside perspective.  But once I get it, it makes perfect sense.

How does your body let you know you are off track or headed in the wrong direction?

Pay attention and let us know.

A Noticeable Difference in Peace

As an empath, I have been practicing a grounding technique to help me from taking on other people’s energy. I have also learned how to recognize when I take on other peoples energy and release it. All of this has been very helpful.

On Monday, I learned a different grounding technique that I  have been playing with   for the past 2 days. I have been amazed at a significant difference in my peace of mind despite a multitude of things happening that could easily knock me off center.

The difference with this grounding technique is that as I am grounding, I am letting go of  current concerns, worries, conflicts,  etc and sending them down my virtual grounding cord.  And instead of grounding once or twice a day,  I ground throughout the day and I ground everything from myself, to my chair, to my computer, to my bed before I go to sleep.

The result — things happening easier, conflicts getting resolved by themselves without me having to say anything,  better sleep at night…I will continue this grounding ritual frequently throughout my day and let you know how it goes.

There is so much more I have learned about energy lately — such as how empathic people take on other people’s energy without knowing it and how this can and does lead to illness, insomnia, irrational mood swings and more.

More to come. And since I generally teach what I learn, I may even teach a class on this in the future  if there is enough interest.

Stay tuned.

The Spiritual Evolution of Solo-preneurs

The two biggest things that get in the way of both the inner peace and the growth of an entrepreneur are fear and self-doubt.

Now there are many ways to deal with fear and self-doubt and generally I use energetic tools such as those in my Life Transformation Tools program to help me and my clients get out of our own way.

Today I want to talk about this on other levels as well.  It is no secret that there is a shift happening on our planet now — a change in consciousness. It is time to raise our vibration. But if we are in fear of moving forward with our business or doubting ourselves and our expertise, then we are holding our vibration down and there is resistance.

I know it is hard to trust when often times it feels like chaos is all around us. Yet if we do not trust ourselves, our intuition, our brilliance and the Universe, then we go nowhere.

So what if you looked at your business as a playground for your spiritual evolution?faith

Actually I have come to believe that it is. Everything that we create in our lives is an opportunity for us to learn and move forward on our spiritual journeys — and being peaceful is part of our spiritual journey.  (I am not referring to religion here, but a more global spirituality that is common for all of us regardless of individual religious beliefs).

So if you try something new in your business and it takes off like a rocket, you learn how to deal with it both from a business systems perspective as well as from whatever spiritual lessons you needed to learn (perhaps how others relate to you and you relate to others’ from this place).

If you send out a new promotion and there is little or no response, you learn things both from a spiritual  and a marketing viewpoint. That’s not to say you won’t be disappointed or perhaps obsess a bit about what you did wrong (ugh!).

But if that disappointment is disproportionately strong or you can’t let go, then it is a sign there are old patterns and memories to release and this thing that we called “failure” is actually perfect because it triggered something we needed to release for our spiritual evolution that will bring us to a place of peace. I experienced this firsthand recently.

Sometimes we don’t know what the lesson is or what there is to do. That is the time to get quiet … to be curious and allow the answers to show themselves or to get support from a spiritual business coach or healer in letting go of whatever is in our way.

As we move forward let’s  look for the gem in each situation that allows us to evolve spiritually. I know sometimes,  it can be difficult and we may want to scream and that’s okay too. But as we evolve,  I believe our businesses will  grow in new ways or get re-designed –such that they fit like a glove for our new way of being.  And from this place ,  I can only think that  “success” will be a given.

I welcome your comments.

Are the glitches disrupting your peace of mind?

peaceful entrepreneur ripples

It is not uncommon to find glitches in our systems, in our program, in our lives.  We like everything to run smooooothly.  And many times it does.  And sometimes, it doesn’t.  So what to do when it happens?  Do you let this disrupt your peace of mind? For how long?

Today I was looking at my sign ups for my newsletter and one thing led to another. For whatever reason, I decided to sign up for my Living Your Dreams newsletter at the landing page of The Dream Movie and found that after I confirmed my subscription, it took me to a blank page that said something like “nothing here.”

My initial go to place was minor “panic”.  As entrepreneurs, I am sure you have heard the saying that the money is in your list.  Sounds a bit harsh. The truth is this is the main way I communicate with people who are interested in what I do.

I sent my assistant an email to look into it, but then my problem-solving mind wanted to figure it out.   After researching it and testing it for about 15 minutes, I am still puzzled as it appears to be set up correctly.

But I have other priorities for the day. I had to remind myself that all is well.  People are still signing up everyday.  Approximately 200 new people opt to receive my Living Your Dreams newsletter through that particular movie every month. They are still getting their confirmation email.

This is not worth disrupting my peace of mind or my productivity.

After all I had a blog post to write 🙂  and a speech to prepare for. And a full slate of  coaching clients today.

So did this glitch disrupt my peace of mind? Did it disrupt my productivity?  Yes, but just slightly and for a very short period of time. I have delegated it and it will get fixed.  All is well.  And I had good fodder for my blog post.

How about you?  How are you dealing with the glitches in your systems? We can intend for things to run smoothly and that will help. But when glitches do happen, take a deep breath or better yet, do the OMM.  It will provide the space so you can see that the setbacks are temporary, they will get fixed and you don’t have to be the one to fix them. Then take a look and  see how you can make lemonade from it.

Let us know how you are dealing with glitches as they occur in your life.

PS.  If you are ready rise about the glitches and align with the clients and business you desire for the rest of 2009 and into the new year,  grab a copy of my free Client and Sales Attraction Accelerator Kit which includes audio and transcript of 24 of my best ways to align with your desires now.  It’s my gift to you.

The Peaceful Entrepreneur Project is born

peacefu entrepreneurI have been posting albeit, somewhat irregularly about the Peaceful Entrepreneur. Well the time has come for me to write more regularly on this all important topic and I’ve decided to create a Peaceful Entrepreneur Project. I invite you to follow my posts and interact with me on it as your opinions and thoughts on this subject matter very much to me.

Many of you participated in my Peaceful Entrepreneur Survey and told me what was in the way of being peaceful for you and how that affected your business.

This project is about going to the next level for all of us. I have some ideas and tools that help me with being more peaceful as an entrepreneur such as The One Minute Meditation and Life Transformation Tools and aligning with your Big Yes program and I have a whole lot more tricks up my sleeve that I will share. But I will be the first to admit that don’t have this whole peaceful thing mastered. Egad — it’s true.

And so I have decided to make it a project. I tend to make myself a guinea pig, do research and try out various tools and techniques and then share what works with my clients anyway. I will share with you things that I find that work for me and my business and those that don’t and I will also talk about my perception of how these things affect both the peace I feel related to my business as well as the actual impact this has on business – i.e. results.

Why should I care about this? Quite frankly, I don’t think it is worth having a business if we cannot be peaceful with where we are in it more often than not. Stress kills and that’s a fact. At the same time I don’t want fear to stop you or me from taking on bigger projects and impacting more people. This is not about staying in your comfort zone.

I want for us to stop putting pressure on ourselves to do things that don’t feel good in our body. I want all of us to be confident in what we bring to the world, okay with our failures and our wins and everything in between. I want entrepreneurs to make a big impact in the world that aligns with our soul but in a way that works with our soul. Most of us don’t play nearly as big as we could.

Does this resonate with you?

I am not talking about a business that is void of ups and downs, joy and sadness or excitement and disappointment. These are all part of being human and as entrepreneurs we are very human. I am talking about being being in a place of acceptance about where we are, knowing that what we are feeling is always temporary. And when we can be in the now while working towards our goals and dreams, there are less ups and downs and more peace and joy.

I plan to talk about the whole gamut of things that affect us as entrepreneurs from spirituality to marketing and from technology systems to support teams and everything in between. It is about the inner work AND the outer work (i.e. action steps) . This blog will evolve naturally so it may end up looking entirely different than what I said today but my intent is that it be relevant and helpful to us all.

So here goes . . .

Join me in this interesting and hopefully, fruitful journey for us all.
