Medical Intuitive Column: Periodontal

Hi Stacey,

My gums are receding and I have a lot of plaque under my gums that I can’t seem to get rid of. Other than going to the dentist, what do you suggest? Are there root causes of this? Is it possible to heal your teeth and gums naturally?

Thanks,

Jerome, Arkansas

Hi Jerome,

There are a number of things you can do. Receding gums are something that happens to about 90% of the population as we get older. Think of it as your thoughts receding. It does not have to be this way. As we age, we get more cautious about what we say to others for fear of upsetting the applecart.

Speaking of apples, an apple a day keeps the dentist away. Not entirely, but apples are good for your teeth. They are full of vitamins and nutrients that help keep your teeth clean – especially the skin.

There are a few beliefs that have your gums receding by 30%. The most important one to release is, “I cannot speak my mind without having others argue that their point of view is the right one.” This is a present life issue.

The excessive tarter can be eliminated by rinsing your mouth with baking soda and water 2 x day or brushing with toothpaste that contains baking soda. I highly suggest using an electric toothbrush.

Warmly,
